RiTradiology Overview
For Knowledge Sharing*
RiTradiology.com (formerly known as RadiologyInThai.com) shares knowledge in radiology and related fields with physicians around the world through high-quality images and scientifically-proven contents in a form of brief, easy-to-read posts. A wide variety of contents includes head-to-toe imaging diagnosis of common diseases, classic radiologic signs, quality in radiology, training/education, radiation safety and radiology-related opinions. All imaging modalities are presented, including radiography, ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, mammography, and PET. In addition to regular posts, a slideshow offers a downloadable lectures of interesting imaging topics produced by RiTradiology.com authors. 'Friend Connect' is a social networking tool for the site.
RiTradiology.com was started with an informal discussion between Rathachai Kaewlai MD, a Thai radiologist -- at that time a clinical fellow in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston -- and a few Thai radiologists. They agreed to create a website dedicated to sharing of knowledge in radiology and related fields to any interested physicians of any levels of training. On April 1, 2008, the first article about scleral buckling device of the eye was created by Bundhit Tantiwongkosi MD. The second and third articles followed quickly, since then the rate of publishing the articles has been at one article/3 days. Several articles in the first month were written in Thai language. However, realization of the importance of using a universal English language came after the knowledge that many visitors were not from Thailand. The second iteration of the website was in adding English contents, as they would be better received worldwide. Currently, most articles are written in English -- some may have a brief Thai summary or an accompanying Thai-language podcast. Moreover, a Translator tool is available to quickly turn any pages into 11 common languages (including Spanish, Arabic, Chinese).
